Various teams from around 40 colleges in Punjab took part in the 49th Annual Athletic Meet organized by Punjab Technical Institution Sports, Bathinda. Among this, students of RIMT Polytechnic College namely Gagan won Gold Medal in 5000m and 3000m race, Simarpreet Singh won Silver medal in Pole vault, Taranpreet Singh won Gold medal in Discus throw, Jeevanjot won Silver medal in 110m hurdle race. The overall trophy was also won by RIMT Polytechnic College in this meet. Moreover, the ludorum trophy which is given for excellent performance in games throughout the year was also won by RIMT Polytechnic College. Sh. Hukam Chand Bansal, Chairman, RIMT Institutes congratulated the students on their achievement.

A2Z Maintenance and Engineering Services Pvt. Ltd., a Gurgaon based electrical business group visited RIMT-Polytechnic College for recruiting final year electrical students of diploma course.

With offered package of Rs. 1.2 to 1.44 lacs per annum by A2Z Group to RIMT students, the post-recession phase in Indian job market is reflecting signs of recovery as number of companies have visited RIMT Institutes for their immediate or future requirements, said Mr. Vijayant Bansal, Vice chairman of RIMT group, Mandi gobindgarh. He added that this is the second time A2Z Group from Gurgaon is visiting RIMT engineering institutes. While extending warm welcome to company officials he also briefed that A2Z provides services to the core Indian Power Sector in the fields of Rural Electrification, EHV Sub-Station, Transmission line and Railway Electrification.

While having pre-placement talk, C.P. Khurana, Senior Vice President of A2Z Group said that A2Z is one of the fastest growing EPC (Engineering, Procurement & Contracting) Business Enterprise in electric power transmission and distribution sector with the strength of EHV transmission lines upto 765 KV, sub station equipments and switchyard sectors in India.

Recruitment procedure comprised of technical and aptitude test followed by personal interview. Finally five students namely Dheeraj Kumar, Amritpal Singh, Bhupinder Singh, Sarpreet Singh and Jagatjit Singh were selected. Amritpal Singh, one of the selected student said that we are really thankful to college authorities for inviting companies in RIMT campus and providing us maximum placements opportunities.

Prof. Kesar Singh, Principal of RIMT polytechnic institute and Dr. Harsh Sadawarti, Principal RIMT engineering institute were also present on the occasion and congratulated the selected students.

RIMT – Polytechnic College, Mandi Gobindgarh bagged the top honors and captured the over all trophy at the 12th Youth Festival for girls organized by the PTIS ( Punjab Technical Institute for Sports) under the aegis of the Punjab State Board of Technical Education and Industrial Training held at Govt. Polytechnic for Women, Patiala. It is worth mentioning that it was the RIMTians maiden appearance in the cultural competition. The college won 1st position (Shivali - IT) in Choreography competition , 2nd position (Chaman Deep Kaur – IT) in Skit competition ,  2nd position (Loveleen – IT) in Solo dance competition, 2nd position (Chaman Deep Kaur – IT) in Folk song competition , 2nd position (Giddha Group) in Giddha competition.

Sh. Hukam Chand Bansal, Chairman, RIMT Institutes congratulated the students on their achievement. Sh. S.K. Ahluwalia, Chief Director General, RIMT Institutes and Mr. Kesar Singh, Principal, RIMT – Polytechnic College appreciated the efforts of the students  and expressed hope that this will also continue in the coming years.
